THEY KEEP PLAYING THAT SONG

The screenplay “They Keep Playing That Song” was inspired by the 14 years of caregiving I did for my mother Lillian Thompson. It started around the time she turned 90, March 21, 2000 and continued until her death July 31, 2014.

The short film touches on the relationship of the mother (patient) with her son and caregiver. It is not a documentary but a narrative with a Hollywood ending. It is meant to be a conversation starter for those who are either going or about to go through a caregiving experience. To give geriatric mental health professionals a starting point to explain what’s happening with the patient, family and caregiver.
